Our community museum invites visitors of all ages to interact with the pioneer and aboriginal artifacts in our displays. Stroll through our Nature Walk, step into an old RCMP jail cell, try the telegraph machine or use the switchboard to create an old-fashioned party line! The Village Square, modeled after a rural community in the early 1900s, is the centre of the museum.  Follow the story of Eileen, a young lady growing up in Strathcona County at the turn of the last century, while visiting surrounding exhibits: Barn, General Store, Kitchen, Church, Parlour and One-Room School.  You can even sit in an old barber chair or try your hand at rope making in the Woodworking Shop.

Our redesigned and renovated Aboriginal Exhibit, The Past Shows Us The Way, will be opening June 16, 2012.  The exhibit features original artwork and stained glass created by renowned local artist Aaron Paquette.  Our Special Exhibit changes seasonally, with local memorabilia focusing on Remembrance Day, vintage toys, local woodcrafts as well as fashion and quilts.  Visit our website to see what's on now!

Strathcona County Museum & Archives features pioneer-themed interpretive exhibits with hands-on accessibility and vignettes highlighting local stories. Guided tours may include historical presentations, "Journey back in time" educational booklets and scavenger hunts.  Visitors and genealogical researchers can reference archives and oral histories to learn about family and community heritage. Drivinig tour pamphlets exploring historical Strathcona County are sites available.  A Brief History of Strathcona County books are for sale.
