Vision: To celebrate the history and pioneering spirit of Stony Plain and Parkland County
Mission: Collect, preserve and present the artifacts and stories of Stony Plain and Parkland County

The Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving and presenting the history of Stony Plain and Parkland County. Opened in 1992 and run by a volunteer board of directors, we now have 17 buildings and over 6000 objects situated on 9 acres in the Town of Stony Plain. Of these buildings, 10 are historic and the other 7 are modern display and administration buildings. We also have a Tea House, which is open in the summer serving homemade lunches and deserts. In addition we cultivate and farm approximately 5 of the 9 acres to demonstrate old farming practices.

Of the 10 historic buildings we have, we are currently restoring 4 of them, which are; a one room school, a 105 year old log house, Stony Plain’s first town hall and the first municipal office in the county.

We have machinery restoration projects, historical research projects, adult and elementary school education programs, display projects, special events and our other community programs. It is part of our mandate for our facility to be a community resource for the public and community; not just as a static museum, but also as a living history museum where we keep old traditions and methods alive for future generations. It is one of our goals to act as a place where seniors can share their stories to younger generations, and where they are valued for themselves and their accomplishments.

During the year we have a number of special events that we run ourselves as well as partner with other community service groups and festivals. We work with over fifteen of these different organizations or groups as part of our commitment to the community.
