Calmar

‘Come Home to Calmar’

Our slogan for our friendly, vibrant and growing community that preserves a small town atmosphere while being at the hub of an amazing variety of attractions within easy reach. Located ten minutes from Edmonton International Airport and just 25 minutes southwest of the City of Edmonton, the Town is also in close proximity to Wizard and Pigeon Lakes, both high quality recreational areas.

Historic boom-town frontages on Main Street set the tone for a historic walking tour and include views of stunning murals depicting scenes of Calmar’s past. Many more old photographs, along with original pioneer accounts, are displayed in our virtual museum on our corporate web site. With limitless space, our museum is in a constant state of expansion.

Known throughout the province for our stunning floral displays, Main Street is just one area that attracts tourists with hanging baskets on antique-style lamp posts and floral planters outside many businesses. Elegant elms adorn the sidewalks on either side of what is also a provincial highway.

The Trans Canada Trail runs through Calmar from the east welcome sign to the west, going past attractive plantings of trees and shrubs, including berry bushes along the way. Soon to be added to the walking paths will be the Conjuring Creek trail, a new park preserved in a natural state.

Woodland Park, the oldest green space, is the jewel in the crown with themed floral displays, trees, a mural and a dedication plaque to the founders of the community.
