In 1983, Rory Erdmann started a vegetable farm on 2 acres, 40 minutes north of Edmonton. He used to bring his produce to a single Famers’ Market. Today, Erdmann’s Gardens cover 50 acres, the Greenhouses boast approximately 12,000 square feet and family visits five markets a week!
Enjoy a free cup of coffee and some homemade baked goods as you wander through the greenhouses and gaze out over the gardens. Indoors, browse the colourful hanging baskets and planters, potted flowers, bedding and vegetable plants, seeds and standbys. Outside, half of the vegetable acreage is irrigated; so even in dry years, you can savour everything from fresh peas, beets and broccoli to corn brussel sprouts, pumpkins and strawberries.
Stop by Erdmann’s Gardens & Greenhouses, visit the website, follow them on Facebook or swing by any of five Farmers’ Markets around Edmonton and area, they would love to meet you and say hello.
The greenhouse is open April to June from 9am – 9pm, July and August open for veggie sales on Wednesdays and Fridays 12noon – 8pm and Saturdays 10am – 6pm.
